Office of the Children’s Lawyer
The protocol between Supervised Access Centres and the Office of the Children’s Lawyer (OCL) includes the following:
- A written request to observe a visit must be forwarded to the Centre two weeks in advance.
- Consent forms from both parties must be provided to the Centre prior to the visit.
- An Oath of Confidentiality must be signed by the OCL representative prior to the visit.
- Dalhousie Place staff will function in their normal role as Family Supervisors, with the OCL representative maintaining an observatory role during the visit.
- Copies of the Centre’s observational reports can be made available as per the “report process.”
- If a report is requested, the Supervised Access Centre will send the invoice to the OCL representative for payment.
